Are These Flexible Solar Panels Any Good?
Hey everyone, I recently stumbled upon this flexible solar panel from https://www.sungoldsolar.com/sungold-flexible-solar-panel-pa-219/ and was wondering if anyone has experience with this type of panel. I’m looking for something lightweight and durable for my camper van setup, but I’m a bit skeptical about how well flexible panels perform compared to rigid ones. Do they hold up well over time? Are they efficient enough for running small appliances and charging batteries? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hey , I’ve actually looked into these panels before, and I think they’re a solid option. Based on the info from their site, this Sungold PA-219 flexible panel is lightweight and designed for curved surfaces, which makes it great for camper vans or boats. It uses high-efficiency solar cells (up to 24% efficiency), which is pretty good for flexible panels.
Durability-wise, it has an ETFE coating, which helps protect against wear and tear, and it’s waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about rain or splashes. The only thing to keep in mind is that flexible panels generally don’t last as long as rigid ones, but if weight and installation flexibility are a priority, this could be a great choice. If you’re running small appliances and charging batteries, you should be fine as long as you size your system correctly. What’s your daily power consumption like?
