Orange flames on your gas hob, is it safe?

Is an orange flame safe to use?? The answer is a simple NO!

⚠️ Safety Warning:

- An orange flame is a warning sign for carbon monoxide production.

- If you see orange flames, especially on all burners, and smell gas or experience headaches/dizziness, get fresh air immediately and call a professional to inspect your appliance for CO leaks.

🤔 Common Causes of Orange Flames:

- Dirty or Blocked Burners: Food spills, grease, and dust can clog burner holes (ports), disrupting the gas-air mix.

- Insufficient Airflow: If the air shutter isn't adjusted properly or there's poor ventilation, the flame won't get enough oxygen.

- High Humidity or Dust: Airborne particles can temporarily interfere with combustion.

- Gas Impurities: Minerals like sodium in the gas supply can cause orange flames.

- Low Gas Pressure: Issues with the gas supply can affect flame color.

💡 What to Do:

- Clean the Burners: Turn off the gas, remove burner caps and heads, and clean the ports with a brush to clear debris.

- Check Airflow: Ensure the air shutter near the gas valve is open and not blocked.

Improve Ventilation: Open windows or use exhaust fans to bring in fresh air.

- Check for Gas Type: Make sure the stove is set for the correct gas type (natural gas vs. propane).
