Goosey Island Motorhome Park is a dedicated, Aire-style overnight stopover located on the banks of the Sneem River in the village of Sneem, County Kerry, Ireland. Situated directly along the world-famous Ring of Kerry scenic route, it provides a secure and scenic resting point for self-sufficient travellers. 

The park operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advanced reservations; visitors check in across the street at the red-fronted Dan Murphy's Bar



Stopover Details for Motorhomes & Campervans

  • Pitches: Offers 35 level, hardstanding gravel bays spacious enough for large motorhomes and smaller campervans.

  • Policy: Strictly restricted to motorhomes and campervans; touring caravans and tents are not permitted on-site.

  • Adults-Only: The park enforces an adults-only policy.

  • Pets: Fully dog-friendly, though pets must be kept under control.

  • Availability: Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Pricing: Stays cost approximately €15 per 24 hours for standard parking, or €20 per 24 hours including Electric Hook-up (EHU)


On-Site Facilities

Goosey Island focuses on utility and cleanliness. It requires visitors to be self-sufficient as there are no on-site toilet or shower blocks

  • Power: 6-amp electric hook-up points are located beside the pitches. 

  • Water: A dedicated freshwater replenishment station stands near the site entrance. 

  • Waste Management: Features a motorhome service point with a drive-over grey wastewater drain and a chemical toilet disposal point (CDP) with a rinse hose.

  • Rubbish Collection: Bagged refuse is collected directly from the site twice daily. Visitors must purchase specific pink refuse bags from Dan Murphy’s Bar for roughly €2 to €4 depending on size.

The park sits just a 2-minute walk (100 metres) from Sneem’s vibrant village square, opening access to several local dining options: 

  • Dan Murphy's Bar: The site’s check-in hub, known for a classic Irish pub atmosphere, excellent Guinness, and regular live weekend music.

  • O'Sheas Bar & Restaurant: Highly reviewed by travellers for its hearty local food, traditional dishes, and welcoming service.

  • Adam's Kitchen: A long-standing village staple (formerly the Village Kitchen) offering freshly prepared local meals and cream teas.

  • Bridge Café & Bistro: Perfect for an early morning coffee, breakfast, or light lunch right by the water. 


Local Information & Attractions

Sneem is a beautifully maintained, colorful coastal village that won the National Tidy Towns Award. The area surrounding the park offers: 

  • Conveniences: A local MACE store and a Costcutter mini-market handle daily grocery needs. The village also features a traditional local butcher famous for award-winning black pudding. 

  • Shopping & Culture: Visitors can explore Quills Woollen Market for authentic Aran sweaters or browse local craft shops and a weekend tourist information office. 

  • Outdoor Activities: The park is bounded by the internationally famed Stone Pyramid Garden and Sneem's National Sculpture Parks. The river rapids below the bridge offer launching points for canoeing and paddleboarding, while the surrounding hills connect directly to the Kerry Way walking trail.
