Talla na Mara Caravan Motorhome Site

is a scenic, community-owned coastal stopover located at Pairc Niseaboist on the iconic Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Managed by the West Harris Trust, this intimate enterprise centre overlooks the white sands of Niseaboist Beach and offers panoramic views across the Sound of Taransay.

Motorhome and Campervan Stopover Details

• Pitch Limitations: The site is strictly designed for small-scale touring, offering just 3 hardstanding pitches at the edge of the community centre grounds. (Note: An additional 7 pitches are available nearby at the adjacent Pairc Niseaboist park).

• Vehicle Size Restrictions: The site only accepts motorhomes and campervans that are a maximum of 7.5 metres in length.

• Tent Policy: Tents, roof tents, and awnings are strictly prohibited on these pitches.

• Booking Requirement: Overnight stops must be booked in advance online via the West Harris Trust Camping Page.

On-Site Facilities

Guests are provided with 24/7 keycode access to a modern amenities block located within the main community building: 

• Power & Utilities: Each pitch features an Electric Hook-Up (EHU) connection.

• Sanitation: Clean toilets, hot showers, and a designated dishwashing/washing-up station.

• Waste Management: Black chemical toilet disposal (organic/green chemicals preferred), grey water drainage, and recycling/rubbish bins.

• Connectivity & Extras: Free Wi-Fi is accessible in the main building foyer. There is also a sheltered bike rack and a bike repair station on-site.

• Pet Policy: Well-behaved pets are welcome. 

Dining at Talla na Mara

The centre is home to the Talla na Mara Community Café, which operates as a community-driven eatery utilizing local staff and volunteers. 

• The Menu: Serves homemade soups, fresh sandwiches, daily specials, coffees, teas, and local home baking.

• Atmosphere: Features massive floor-to-ceiling windows providing diners with panoramic ocean views.

• Hours: Typically open Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Lunch served 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM). It remains closed on Sundays in keeping with local island traditions. 

Local Information & Attractions

• Art & Culture: The main Talla na Mara venue houses a foyer gallery selling handcrafted souvenirs and four open artist studios where visitors can see local creatives at work. 

• Niseaboist Beach: Located just a short stroll across the road, this beach is famous for its turquoise waters and views of Taransay. 

• Macleod’s Standing Stone: Known locally as Clach MhicLeòid, this historic megalith sits on the hillside overlooking the beach just a short walk from the pitches. 

• Nearby Beaches: The world-famous sands of Luskentyre and Seilebost are within a few minutes' drive along the main road.

• Location & Access: Situated directly on the A859 highway, the site rests 12 miles south of the Tarbert ferry terminal and 8 miles north of Leverburgh.
