Bush Farm Wild Camping

Bush Farm, Saltash PL12 6QY

Bush Farm Wild Camping is a rustic, off-grid eco-campsite located near Saltash, Cornwall, offering ultimate freedom across 200 acres of pristine countryside. Perfect for families, solo adventurers, and dog owners, the site lets you pick your own unallocated pitch anywhere on the grounds. You can set up in hidden woodland glades, wide wildflower meadows, or right along a mile-long stretch of the peaceful River Lynher.

Bush Farm Wild Camping is a sprawling 200-acre, family-run working organic farm near Saltash, Cornwall, that offers an authentic, off-grid "nearly wild" camping experience. Operating seasonally from late May until the end of September, the site rejects structured, tightly packed pitches. Instead, guests receive a map upon arrival and are given complete freedom to find their own hidden glade, open meadow, woodland sanctuary, or lakeside hideaway to set up camp.

Campervans & Motorhomes Stopovers

The site offers a liberating setup for campervans, small motorhomes, and roof-tent vehicles seeking a wild experience without height barriers.

  • Pitch Flexibility: You are not limited to a rigid parking bay. You can drive into the fields or park right up at the water's edge in designated wild vehicle spots.

  • Terrain Restrictions: Pitches are strictly non-electric grass and earth. Ground conditions depend heavily on the weather, and twin-axle vehicles are not accepted.

  • Self-Sufficiency Required: Because this is a nearly wild site, there is no chemical toilet disposal (elsan point) or grey water drive-over drain. Motorhomes must arrive prepared to manage their own waste.

  • Main Field Alternative: Vans that prefer to remain closer to amenities or avoid trickier terrain can choose to park in the main camping field right next to the central facilities block.

On-Site Facilities

While the atmosphere remains intentionally wild and rustic, the central farm yard provides basic, clean "creature comforts":

  • Sanitation: Six flush toilets and six hot, powerful showers are split across the site blocks.

  • Washing & Utilities: A dedicated under-cover dishwashing area is available. A single electric hook-up station is located at the hub for emergency charging needs.

  • Campfires & BBQs: Off-the-ground firepits and BBQs are highly encouraged. The farm sells nets of recycled firewood on-site.

  • Summer Food & Wellness: During peak periods, the site hosts the Bush Farm Pizza Co serving stone-baked pizzas, alongside authentic Polish street food vendors. Guests can also book a session at Soulvanna Sauna, a wood-fired sauna tucked directly next to the river.

  • Nature Access: The site encompasses a mile-long stretch of the River Lynher, which is fully accessible for wild river swimming and canoeing.

The Local Area

Bush Farm serves as an excellent gateway to explore both the rural Tamar Valley and the broader Cornish coast.

  • Food & Drink: The Weary Friar in Pillaton is a traditional country pub located a 1.5-mile walk or 5-minute drive away. Alternatively, The Crooked Inn, a highly dog-friendly pub, is a 10-minute drive down the road.

  • Nearby Activities: Families can walk just one mile off-site to visit the Amazing Cornish Maize Maze. Adrenaline junkies can drive 20 miles to reach Adrenaline Quarry for aqua parks, karting, and zip-lining.

  • Historic & Coastal Sightseeing: The medieval National Trust property, Cotehele House and Mill, sits under 5 miles away. For a beach day, the dramatic, sheltered sands of Tregantle Beach on Whitsand Bay are just over a 20-minute drive south.

  • Supplies & Transit: The town of Saltash is a 10-minute drive away and offers large supermarkets for stocking up on supplies. The historic maritime city of Plymouth is reachable in roughly 25 minutes.
