The Pig on the Hill is a vibrant, family-run holiday retreat and award-winning contemporary gastropub located in a peaceful, gated countryside setting on Pusehill Road near Westward Ho!, Bideford, North Devon. Known for its sweeping rural views, quirky cedar log cabins, and welcoming atmosphere, it has recently expanded to offer premium, highly sought-after overnight options for touring vehicles. 

Motorhome & Campervan Stopovers

The retreat provides a dedicated, ultra-private Luxury Campervan & Motorhome Pitch (often referred to as the "Pig Pen") designed to offer a glamping upgrade rather than a standard gravel parking spot. 

• Pitch Setup: A spacious, fully fenced, 8m x 8m gravel hardstanding pitch providing excellent security and total privacy. It accommodates vehicles up to 7.5 to 8 metres in length. 

• Luxury Extras: The pitch features its own private sunken hot tub, raised decking area, bistro set, sun loungers, fire pit, and a Weber gas BBQ. 

• Vehicle Restrictions: Awnings are welcome at no extra fee, but separate gazebos, pup tents, or supplementary cars parked on the pitch are not allowed.

• Hookups: Fully serviced with a 16-amp electric hook-up and direct fresh water connections.

• Waste Disposal: Dedicated grey waste facilities and an on-site chemical disposal point.

• Family & Pets: The entire gated ground is completely dog-friendly (allowing up to two dogs on the pitch). There is also a brand-new children's outdoor play area.

Dining at the Gastropub

The heart of the retreat is the historic pub on the hill, reborn under the stewardship of Nomad Larder. It serves premium British gastropub dishes with subtle French influences, focusing on hyper-local, seasonal ingredients. 

• The Menus: The pub features casual light lunches, small plates, an a la carte dinner selection, and a highly praised traditional Sunday roast dinner. Signature favourites include their gourmet Pig Burger, slow-cooked pork belly, and local seafood. 

• Operating Hours: The pub operates Wednesday to Sunday (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Coffees and pastries open the morning, transitioning into lunch and dinner service. Booking a table ahead via The Pig on the Hill Website is highly recommended as it fills quickly on weekends. 

• Pub Atmosphere: The pub features a relaxed layout, an outdoor patio deck boasting epic country views, a vintage games room, and a dog-friendly indoor bar lounge area.

The Pig on the Hill acts as an ideal coastal launchpad for exploring the North Devon countryside:

• Westward Ho! Beach: Located just 0.9 miles away, the historic seaside town offers a world-class, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, amusement arcades, and excellent surf schools. The walk down is pleasant but features narrow, hilly paths.

• South West Coast Path: Easily accessible under a mile from the site, giving hikers breathtaking clifftop walks and panoramic sunset vistas over the Atlantic. 

• Nearby Towns: The charming, historic working port of Bideford and the colorful fishing village of Appledore are both within a short driving radius, offering unique independent shops and fresh seafood markets.
